  Discussion with family member who is an Elder in our congregation

  so about a week ago, i showed my cousin & her husband [an elder in our congregation] the picture on pg 29 of our 4/15/2013 study wt and asked, "if jesus is head of the congregation then where is he?".

  after several minutes of searching, dead silence.. i then asked if they had heard the part on the 2012 summer district conv the part about "our spiritual mother, where the c.o said that "the bible by itself does not shine thru as life-giving truths just by itself.

  " they were shocked and said that i must have misheard it because that would be apostasy.

  Question, and I would like some advice. So if they call back and they will, should I happen to bring up an incident as to why i have Elder issues with Cousin Elder?

  Condensed version.

  When my daughter was going to get married, the kids asked Cousin Elder to marry them. When I mentioned that my daughter was back East meeting the family and would bring future Hubby home with her and he was going to stay here. CE pitched a royal fit and said that he could not stay here will all of us.He was nice enough to let future Hubby stay with him, but for the next 2 weeks made us jump thru hoops to comply with their 'Chaparone rule' It was a hardship on our family because CE lives 20 miles away, so it was 40 miles round trip, EVERYDAY, which at the time gas was $4 a gallon, so besides paying for a wedding we're trying to keep gas in our truck and since we had to let him use one of our trucks, I"M STUCK at home without transportation.

  Just a few months later, he starts dating Hubby's cousin, who is living with us at the time, I chaparone them their first date, then CE sits here in my living room and makes the statement "Chaparones at our age is ridiculous!" They then proceed to date for the next few months ALONE. We even know they would go park up on the mountain to watch the city lights until midnight. Now, I don't care what they were doing, that's their personal business.

  But the point is: How can you possibly counsel my kids & I about chaparones then turn around and totally blow it off?

  SO, here's the question to all my friends out there....Should I bring it up and make it their fault as to why I'm going inactive? Or just forget about it?

  That's why I've had it with Stormtrooper Elders!!! I'm done!

  yep.

  you read the title correctly.. my daughter is a prosecutor who right this moment is prosecuting a dui crash with major injuries.

  the defendant--the drunk driver--just tried to place an awake magazine with her while both of them were in the courtroom.. .

  How stupid! I would have been ashamed for anyone to know that i was a JW!!! I guess he was drunk when he went to court too!!

  Hi Steve and WELCOME. I do understand how you feel. Our family has been thru hell with elders. I'll let you in a little secret that has helped me these past 6 months. People only have power over you if you ALLOW them to. I also understand about the 'conditional' love in the organization.

  You may have some difficult days ahead, but just remember you do have friends here that have been thru some rough times and understand what you're going thru.

  Something interesting after 6.5 hours in the ER

  this is just a few things interesting that happened to me yesterday while waiting in the er.. i'm fine other than a minor concussion and being sore from tripping over my cat yesterday and face planting into the corner of the wall.. so anyway i had to wait about 6 hours in the waiting room and while i was there, there were these two hispanic women going around the room asking people if they wanted a "tract" on jesus, they didn't know english all that well and i couldn't really see the cover of the tract or anything, but the one woman who approached me had what looked like a bible.

  of course i couldn't see what bible it was.

  if i wouldn't have been suffering with a concussion and could think better, i would have inquired on if these women were jw's or not.

  Exactly. And I feel bad that I laughed in the guys ear, but I've been hearing this for 49 yrs, it gets a little old after awhile. Kind of like the Boy who cried wolf.

  i think it's fitting for my very first post to be a thread on jw.net turning myself in to any lurking elders out there on a witch-hunt to cleanse the congregation so that god's choosen ones can "remain in god's love.
